This IP (patents worldwide) has been developed through the perseverance and collaboration of all parties involved and represents one of the first financially feasible, safe, and environmentally responsible ship recycling solutions worldwide. Greendock Project Development B.V. is the Licensor of the worldwide intellectual property (IP) and patents related to the Greendock–Foildock concept. The technology combines Dutch engineering expertise in water management and dry-dock solutions with efficient industrial recycling processes, creating a scalable and environmentally superior alternative to traditional ship “beaching” methods. The uniqueness of Greendock lies in conducting ship recycling within a controlled dry-dock (Foildock) environment, enabling higher safety standards, reduced environmental impact, and improved operational efficiency. This approach aligns with the global transition toward sustainable steel production and supports the increasing demand from steel manufacturers for low-carbon “green steel” feedstock. A worldwide rollout strategy has been initiated to address the global shortage of environmentally compliant ship recycling capacity. As part of this expansion, the first Foildock licenses have been granted to Panama, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei, marking the beginning of an international network of responsible recycling facilities. Panama will serve as the first operational development in this global chain, setting the foundation for responsible steel re-use within a sustainable and regulated framework. Through collaboration with international stakeholders and industry partners, Greendock has progressed from concept design to a realistic and scalable global solution.
